Build Capacity at Community-level To Improve Watershed/Irrigation Management

Through this project BRD aim to improve awareness and better understanding of the targeted communities on water law and watershed/ irrigation management and develop capacity of the farmers, community-based organizations and local institutions for their active participation in the watershed/irrigation management, through customized training and mentorship.The intervention will increase the efficiency of agricultural water use through equipping the farmer with the new skills and methods and on-farm water management practices. It will have a stabilizing effect over irrigated crop production outputs, which will improve livelihood of the rural poor and increase their resilience to climate change.Furthermore, establishing mutual relation and partnership among the local institutions and community-based organizations as well as increase the amount of irrigated land, will promote sustainable watershed management approaches. The project will fully contribute towards increased productive and sustainable use of water in agriculture, and strengthen capacity of local entities to manage water resources.
